Denise Shirley, one of the operators from our High and Heavy Division, was recently invited to Edgbaston by the ECB for the second day of the Ashes Test Match between England and Australia. Denise was one of only 18 people selected from the whole of the UK to collect an award for cricket coaching.
Denise won the Award for Staffordshire Coach of the Year 2015.

She has been coaching cricket for 10 years at Leycett Cricket Club where she coaches 5 - 17 year old boys and girls.
At present Denise runs three junior teams - under 9's, under 11's and under 13's age groups and she recently achieved her Level 2 coaching badge and is now looking to further her coaching into District or County level in Staffordshire.
At her local cricket club Denise is the Ladies Secretary and Club Welfare Officer and also the league Welfare Officer for the South Moorland Junior Cricket league and the North Staffs and South Cheshire Senior League.
