JAGUAR LAND ROVER AND THE WORLD'S FIRST DUAL FUEL CAR TRANSPORTER
I guess the title says it all!! As ever and whenever there is an opportunity to take photographs of something really interesting we do.
One of the world's first dual fuel car transporters was at JLR Halewood recently and it didn't take long for a deputation of JLR personnel to arrive on the scene for an in-depth examination of the latest addition to our fleet.
Dave Andrews, Driver Trainer and Steve Hill, Driver were both on hand to offer some expert advice on loading and driving the new transporter.
Below are a number of shots taken on the day.

SOCIAL MEDIA
By now we will all have received various emails and memo's about the perils and pitfalls of posting comments on Social Media sites such as Facebook and Twitter and how if you post something you shouldn't have then consequences are likely to follow.
There are more people in the world who think Social Media sites are a pain to society than those who think they are wonderful. The trouble here is that we often leave ourselves open to criticism and condemnation by making comments which we know deep down are likely to cause offence. Maybe thats why we write them! However, sometimes we cross the line with what we say and that's when the problems start!
As a Company we will not condone this and why should we? We are still a family business with family principles and that's when these self induced problems really stand out.
So please, think before you write....will this offend anyone, is what I am writing breaching Company Policy etc etc? It is in your best interests to do so.

ALAN SLATTERY
Hey Alan Slattery it has been a while since we last exchanged comments on the Blog.
To start the ball rolling consider this......I have come to believe that there are infinite passageways out of the shadows, infinite vehicles to transport us into the light......we just have to be allowed to find them.
What do you think?

IAN ATKINSON - GROUP FINANCE DIRECTOR
Here's something most of you didn't know..... our Group Finance Director, Ian Atkinson, recently completed a triathalon in Majorca. He did very well as far as times are concerned and looks as fit as he did before he went away!
Ian was also a keynote speaker at the recent Finance Directors Conference in Central London where I am led to believe he wowed the audience with a mixture of serious Finance Director things and a sharp out take of witty comments.
Here is Ian at his desk hard at work.....or so he says!

BRIT EUROPEAN CELEBRATES 90 YEARS IN LOGISTICS
It’s very rare in
the world of business and even more so in the world of transport and logistics
for a company to be able to celebrate its 90th birthday. Brit
European started life in the 1920’s, has been through a world war, seen entry into
the EEC, continued into a new millennium and seen the EEC develop into the EU
and as a business continues to develop for the future.
Started by Rod
Carman’s grandfather, William (Bill), it is a testament to the family that the company has
constantly evolved and changed to cope with the ever changing face of business
and has continued to re-invent itself time and time again to survive and grow. It
is fantastic to have third and fourth generation family members within the
business and also to have so many valued staff with many years of experience to
guide the newer ones away from the pitfalls of future decisions. Embracing
change is the pre-requisite to staying in business and the blend of new ideas
and energy coupled with years of experience is something we must safeguard and
nurture.
As a small token as
part of us ‘celebrating’ our birthday, we gave a limited edition lapel
badge to be worn or saved as a keepsake to all members of staff and valued customers.
MOTOR TRANSPORT AWARDS 2014
Brit European is in the running for one of the most prestigious awards in the Transport Industry! We are a finalist in the coveted Low Carbon and Efficiency Award along with Sainsbury's and Bullwell Trailer Solutions.
The presentation of the award will take place on Wednesday 2nd July 2014 at the Grosvenor Hotel, London. Watch this space next month when I will be revealing whether we won (which I know we will) or otherwise. There will be plenty of piccies to mark the event.

COMMERCIAL VEHICLE SHOW 2014
The Commercial Vehicle Show 2014 came and went with a bang! Footfall (number of visitors for the uninitiated!) was up on 2013 by a whopping 17% and I would estimate that most of them visited the Brit European stand in Hall 4.
Here is all its glory is the 2014 stand. As with previous years it was one of the best on display and attracted a lot of praise from visitors and attendees alike. As with previous shows my thanks go to Richard Dutton for his help and expertise (and the Subway sandwiches!) in making our presence at the Show such a success. Below are some photos of Richard with his lovely assistant Alison. Also some more shots of the activity during the three days we were there.

BRIT EUROPEAN ASSISTS TRITON HOCKEY CLUB!
Brit European (well Andy Brookes actually!) was approached recently by Alsager based Triton Hockey Club to see if we could assist in getting some new dug outs delivered to Tritons home ground in Alsager. The rescue plan was sprung into action and Andy Evans, Fleet Optimisation Manager for Brit European donated his time and experience by becoming a driver for the day to drive the truck and deliver the dug outs.
Pictured are Steve Wade (on the left) of Triton Hockey Club and Andy Evans of Brit European.
